Our Afternoon Guild is part of the Church of Scotland Guild, a national organisation with its headquarters in Edinburgh. Its aim is to keep its members well-informed of the work of the Church (Social Care, Mission and World Mission), and of the Guild, and its support of that work through Worship, Fellowship and Action.
Every three years, the Guild has a strategy of fund-raising for various projects. Over the last three year period, Guild branches throughout Scotland raised £693,354, which was divided among six different charities helping the needy, the vulnerable and the deprived at home and throughout the world.
We in Cardonald, of course, also support our own Church, as well as other projects of our own choice.
We meet weekly on Thursdays at 2 p.m. in the Large Hall (enter by Cardonald Place Road), and the season runs from the first Thursday in October until the last Thursday in March. Our syllabus is varied, interesting and entertaining. We have speakers on many different subjects and frequent musical afternoons - and, of course, tea, biscuits and lots of chat!
We also have an annual day out on the last Thursday in May and a weekend away in September.
Why not come along and join us? You would be warmly welcome into our fellowship.
Mrs Eileen Mirtle is President of the Afternoon Guild.
